Well I think its good for Baseball to have the Yanks back on top again.

Not so sure its a good thing when your MVP can't speak English though.

But I guess,  Times They are a changing

Naw... its bad for the league when the Yanks are on top.  Because it is magnifying their major problem... because there is no salary cap of any type, a team can just buy the World Series.   Of course they are going to win the majority of the World Series'... they just buy most of the good free agents each year, and how is any team supposed to compete...

Teams like the Pirates, and A's can't compete for the good players.

To be fair, when the Red Sox, who have the second highest payroll, win the World Series, it probably isn't too good for the MLB either.  But I believe that the only reason other teams spend so much money is because that is the only way they can compete with the Yankees.

Oh well.  At least the Red Sox have won a few before the Yankees payroll takes over again.  Guess more World Series' comes with being the biggest and richest city in the world.

Why would the Red Sox want JD?    They have Ellsbury playing that position, and he seems to have gotten it together this season.

Not sure why you would think JD is happier in NY.   He is happy to win a World Series... who wouldn't be?  Then again, he is the happy go lucky sort, and seems to always be happy... even when he is stinnking it up like he was the last few years.  Who would have guessed he would do so good in his 5th year after doing so horrible before that.  Anyway, he was pretty happy back in '04 too.

Yes, and wait until the NFL loses some of its recently acquired popularity.  Lets face it, one of the major reasons that it has become so popular recently is because most fans feel their teams have a chance...  if they go back to a few teams having all the good players, most of those newly gained fans will lose interest.

Nobody wants to see the same old teams all the time.   I'm sure that is why over the years MLB has lost some of its popularity.  People like me, who have had a winning team the last few years watch... but what about fans of other teams.... KC fans, Pittsburgh fans, and about 90% of the teams.   They have lost interest.  No one wants to see the same old teams make the playoffs every year.

Its really a shame that the NFL is letting this happen.  They really have a good thing going right now.   Its going to be blown to pieces... especially if it all ends in a lock out.  Fans will not be happy about that.

Stupid people in charge, I tell you.  What a little greed will get you.  Both sides can't realize they have a good thing going... both sides want more... and neither side can compromise.  Really a shame.

And that about says it all for our society today.  Both sides want it all their way, and are unwilling to compromise... as a result neither side can get anything done.

I don't know Max, in a different time and a different place, things worked out just fine the way they were. I think Fans were Fans of sports, it wasn't so much my team against your team. In your world Ruth and Gehrig, would have never played together. Mantle and Marris, on and on. No great Lakers Teams or Celtics.

There was a time I knew all the good players in the NBA, NFL, MLB. Now I hardly know any of them. To me, the leagues are all watered down, more teams everywhere, less talent. The Rozelle Dream...Parody.

JJ will not spend money for players next year...hell he's to deep in debt now. The owners will do whats best for them, you can bet on it.

Maybe in the end, it will just be rollerball, but what the hell even that didn't work out.

Max,

I do hope that the Sox do well in the draft and F/A. I would like to see the wild man ( MATT ) go back home. I think he and M.R. complemented each other and niether was the same after one left.

And Yes I follow the Sox ..... Since the 70's ..... Cary Yaz ... Fred Lynn and Jim Rice and one of my favorites .... Louis Tiant.

Good Day Max
