Will the Yankee's make the play offs?

Fist off, I hate the Yankees and I think that by looking at their salary they should be the best team in the league. With the biggest salary they should easily make the play offs, but they are playing shabby right now and I personally don't think they'll make it and if they do they will lose in the first round.
Hawk

I guess I'll always be a Yankee fan, even though I don't follow them the way I used to. I agree their payroll is embarrassing for a team that should win more playoff games than anybody.

But their biggest problem seems to be, that no matter how much money they pay pitchers, they just don't have the right guys. They should start rookies, pay them bonus's, and therir pitching would probably be more productive.

Ya C.C Sabathia is sucking it up

Sabathia, has won the last 4 out of five games he's pitched, the Yankee have won 14 out of the last 17, and are 1 1/2 in first.

Now we just have to wait and see how long that lasts. They have a habbit of slumping after a winning streak. Maybe it'll be different this year.

Lakers win
Yankees win
Cowboys win, all will be right in the sports world again lol
LoneStar

To Early

Way to much Baseball left to even worry about who's going to be on top. Right now its still anybodies to win, lots of teams fade in Sept, and Oct.

true, true... I just hate the Yankees...haha

Hey T.H...

Just imagine how it would be if,lets say Bobby Cox coached the Yankees..WOW!!!!.

I personally thought they should have been in the playoffs the tear they fired Torre. George f upped on that one and they paid for it. JMHO..

                         Good Day T.H.
Nightrider

Yankees

Yankees look lie the team to beat....but that has happened before 8)
mbc63

The Yankee's,

They may be the team to beat and bet on. I would bank on it if Torre' was the manager..

So I will say now the Dodgers an yanks, an Manny and the boys in 6 GAMES..........
Hawk

Hackster

Don't know if you come by anymore or not. But I told you in the beginning, it will be the Yanks.

Lakers
Yankees
Cowboys
All will be right in the Universe again :)

I reserve the rite to change my mind just before the play-offs begin.

Them damn Yankee's are loooking that damn good.

Good Day Bird brain........lol
LoneStar

Boston

Well Boston has been complaining how the Yankees built their New Stadium to suit themselves in the home run catagory. Funny the Yanks seem to like it at Bostons house also lol
mbc63

About like kelly bundys chic-a-go cubs...lol

I still think the phillies and cubs still hold the record for most homers..if not they are close to it. If memory is correct I think Dave kingmon and Mike schmidt each hit like 4 or 5 each and the total was close to 15 or so I think.

I would not count out the Red Sox yet, once more I believe they won their first title since NOAH'S ARC as a wild card.

It will be interesting this years playoff.
Hawk

Pitching

It will simply as always come down to who has the pitching. The Yankees have struggled in the post season the past few years with their over priced Piichers laying down.
mbc63

why you did not respond to the question... you must be looking it up..lol

i'll give you the rest of the day...lol

The Yanks have turned this thing around, and definitely have the best team they have had since they were winning World Series'...   We'll see.  Pettitte had himself a no hitter going into the 7th today.   Red Sox have a lot of injuries, and just plain failures this year where it counts.  Smoltz did horrible, and then goes to the Cards and rocks.  Now Penny is going to SF... wonder if he will pull the same crap.   Wakefield is hurt... doesn't look good for him.   Still, they are doing pretty good, and are only so far behind because the Yankees refuse to lose.  The Red Sox are also having a lot of trouble beating the good teams these days... which doesn't help their cause going into the playoffs.

Guess I have to hope that the Angels do what they usually do to the Yanks...   Lol.

Max I'm a Yankee's fan from back to 75...yet one of my favorite players growing up was The Yaz Man... Yes Carl Y,and as well I followed his two buddies J Rice and Fred Lynn.

I would not count out the Red Sox. If a few things happen I could be a repeat of a few years ago,and they win it all from the wild card spot.

The few things. 1 Big Pope' gets going .. 2 The pitching pics up .. 3 The injured heal up before it is to late.

Good Luck and Good Day Mac
quitesanemax

Jim Rice was my favorite player growing up.

Just doesn't quite compute that a Yankees fan could be a Yaz fan as well...  Lol.

Yeah, good luck to your Yanks as well.  It looks a lot different this year than back in '04.  In fact, to me, the Yanks look more like the Red Sox of '07... although once the playoffs come along, if the Red Sox make it, then it really could be all up in the air.  This Red Sox team does have a lot of playoff experience... and unlike in the past, its actually positive playoff experience...

I went from catcher to left field and my coach ( COACH JOHNSON ) told me to watch the best left fielder in the game...YAZ.

Yaz played the Green Monster better than anyone past or present. Plus I was fortunate enough to have him autograph a baseball bat that bore his name on it.

I liked Johnny Bench as well,so I followed the Reds. I think I got started really following the RED SOX when Jim Rice and George Foster would have one of there HR contest.

Every Saturday my dad an I would watch what ever game was on. I took a liken to Al Hrabosky, and Louis Tiant to name a few.

I didn't look it up...I'll let you do that when you get the time.
I do remember murderers Row 1 & 2, Mantle, Tresh, and Maris. The last I remember that Yankees team held the home run record.

I still hold out hope for my Trifecta---Lakers, Yankees, and Cowboys

The Yankees ended up on top, maybe you can buy a WS.

Go Sox, just because I don't like AROD....his girlfriends leave a lot to be desired lol
Hawk

Arod in---haha, Sox out

Good to chat with you for awhile. Good to be getting my strength back as well.

The catcher in question in the 96 W.S. against the Braves, the catcher was Jim Leyritz. After a two game lead Jim hit a game winning two run homer in game 4 and the Yanks never looked back.

I do believe that Jim hit rock bottom a couple of years ago when he was involved in a auto accident that resulted in him being charges for vehicular man slaughter.

Good Day

Hey hawk.......

Jorge Pasoda was drafted by the Yanks in 90 as a second base men.. Then things changed....lol

  Good Day.
quitesanemax

Congrats to your Yankees.   Not happy about it, but can't deny that they were the best team in the league this year.
