Three Players Killed the Defense

Here are three players who killed the Cowboys Defense against the Saints. From PFF:

The Worst of the Defense

With nearly the entire defense grading in the red, itís not easy picking out the worst of the lot, but a few performances stood out. Starting at the linebacker level where Bruce Carter(-5.4) and Ernie Sims (-4.1) struggled in all aspects of the game, but especially against the run. Carter might be having nightmares that heís glued to full back Jed Collins as he was moved out of the hole on several occasions. The offensive linemen had their way with Carter as well as he was kept away from the point of the attack for much of the game despite getting in on 12 tackles. For Sims, it was less about getting blocked and more about his inability to find the football. Whether over-pursuing or dropping into coverage on a goal line run right at him, there were a number of mistakes that led to Simsí -3.1 grade against the run.

In addition to the linebackers, strong safety Jeff Heath had the worst game of his young career, grading at -5.2 He missed four tackles while surrendering five receptions for 104 yards and three touchdowns on six targets in coverage. He whiffed on WR Marques Colstonon his 22-yard touchdown late in the first quarter and it was more of the same as RB Pierre Thomas shrugged him off in the open field with 5:15 to go in the second. To cap it all off, Heath was unable to adjust to Breesí deep ball to WR Kenny Stills leading to a 52-yard touchdown at the 12:51 mark of the fourth quarter. It was a disastrous day for the Dallas defense with Carter, Sims and Heath leading the way.

One other note: Dallas missed 15 tackles, the Saints 2
Desperado

Carter has been a big disappointment this season the defense is just not getting anything done. Ware is making a few plays, come on they are on the way to being the worst defense the NFL has ever seen.

Defense, lmao, 40 first downs NFL record. Do we even have a defense?

What's most bizarre is we are (or were before the N.O game) one of the best redzone teams in the NFL. When we get there, we score TD's.

Also we are great in turnovers, yet our defense is terrible in yards and points allowed. Really strange stats that don't fit this team.

Offense was 0-9 on 3rd downs (N.O)....that really didn't help our putrid defense very much either.

I have this service a buddy lets me access and it shows games in "Coaches View," or from the end zone. It's obvious that teams have started to double Dez and Witten and put a rush on Romo.

The coaches have not made the adjustments and especially Dez is not fighting enough to get open. Play after play I watched Romo drop back and no one was open. Add to that he threw a couple of bad passes and there is the offense..

I listened to a guy on ESPN and he said when you have a defense this bad it takes away an offense desire. It becomes, I might as well not get hurt because this sorry *** defense can't stop anyone, anyway?

The last line of your post had me laughing. Its was so true, and so sad at the same time. The Saints game made me embarrassed to even tell some people I'm a Cowboys fan.

There never seems to be any pressure on the defense..Everyone points to injuries..but..it's something totally different with the offense.

Murry out..no problem, run anyway'
Waters goes down, no problem plug in another guy
Austin out, no problem, this rookie or an undrafted free agent can do the job..
Romo is rushed..no problem..throw quicker

It becomes exhausting

I see where people on other sites say injuries are just an excuse. How can any sane person not realize with the cap, you simply don't have depth.

Not going to get up or down right yet, we will know exactly what's happening with this team when they play the Giants.

This...

We have lost 5 games and 4 of the 5 teams would be in the playoffs if it started today. 3 are division leaders.

We are still undefeated in the East. Until we lose to one of these other crappy teams, we are in full control.

I'm right there with that thought....but I sure wish we would go out and get some respect!
