Special teams coach

Cowboys special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia interviewed Friday for the Washington Redskins head coaching job, according to a source.

The Cowboys didnít have to grant the Redskins permission to interview Bisaccia while heís under contract because itís a head coaching opportunity. The Redskins were only required to notify the Cowboys about the interview, and the source said that took place.

The Redskins also have shown interest in Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, Carolina defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, Baltimore offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell and Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell in their effort to replace the recently fired Mike Shanahan.

Bisaccia, 53, and Redskins general manager Bruce Allen worked together for several years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Also, Bisaccia worked under Redskins front office executive A.J. Smith while in San Diego.

In his first season with the Cowboys, Bisaccia improved Dallasí special teams units and had them ranked among the best in the league.

Bisaccia was hired last year to replace Joe DeCamillis, who left to become an assistant head coach/special teams coordinator with the Chicago Bears. DeCamillis interviewed last year for the Bearsí head coaching position before eventually joining Marc Trestmanís staff.

Sounds like a set up to me: You tell him hey work for us, and we'll promote you in a couple years.

But JJ has him under contract, so its a no go.

Well the guy has done a good job, I think we need him to stay around. Looks like nobody else cares lol

I don't think he's going anywhere, but it might help if players and coach's felt that loyalty is not a forgotten art.

At the moment it looks to me like all the coaches will be staying. You really can't expect to hire new coaches when the head coach has only 1 yr left on his contract.
