Rules & Penalties

Being a Boston resident for more than 30 years I tend to continue to follow the Patriots which I did today.

The game went to OT and on their first possession the Jets opted to attempt a very long field goal that the kicker missed.  The Patriots were penalized on the kick because one defender pushed another into the line.  The penalty was a consequence of a new rule that went into effect this season.  News to me and the Announcers took a while to explain it.  It seems to me players along the line of scrimmage are always pushing each other from behind, attempting to move the pile.

The Jets got a second chance and kicked the game winner. What a way to win or lose a game.

There are a lot of stupid rules and at the same time more rules are needed to avoid further head and other injuries.  The season is young and too many of the best players are out with injury.

More on this topic later.

They should allow coaches to carry guns, so they can just shoot the refs cheers
Desperado

Are these guys replacement refs, every week they really suck.

The new rules are the results of the league instituting "knee jerk" rules without thinking them through. I do find it amusing that a NE fan would talk of rules when one such "tuck rule" got them to the Super Bowl.

That aside these insane rules are officiated with no consistency. It seems they make the calls at the most critical times. It's like they are looking to make a call.

Yesterday the Cowboys had a interception in  the end zone overturned by replay. The problem is the replay showed nothing to overturn it, but that didn't matter, they seemed to be looking for a reason to overturn?

Hey Brady and company are supposed to win every game, what the hell they almost did it once. hahaha

But I do get the gist from the OP, the refs have been very bad this year. The Cowboys had 10 penalties before the half, but still won, the refs can suck on that.

Question: The NFL officiating is so watered down that it is laughable. Last week in the Cowboys game Tony Romo was sacked and on the ground and an Eagle came out of no where and drilled him. No flag. A few plays later an Eagle kicked the football after the play was dead. No call, nothing. But, it got worse as the game progressed. The officiating is worse than it looks. Can we bring back the replacements?

Seems to me at least 90% of close games are being decided by the officials. I wonder when the league is going to look into this?

Trent Williams - T - Redskins
NFL suspended umpire Roy Ellison one game for verbally abusing Redskins LT Trent Williams in Week 11 against Philadelphia.

Williams accused Ellison of calling him a "garbage-***, disrespectful mutherf–ker." Ex-NFL head of officiating Mike Pereira disclosed this week that this wasn't the first time Ellison had been accused of verbally abusing players on the field. Pereira had to issue Ellison warnings about his behavior in the past

Just today.

Williams non PI call
Carr bogus illegal contact call
Dez catch called no catch(no booth review)
Tom Coughlin's red flag(can't throw a red flag on an unnecessary call)should have been a delay of game penalty or unsportsmanlike flag
