Ratliff----Spencer? Hatcher and others

Is Spencer pulling a Ratliff on the Cowboys? He made over 10 mil last year and did nothing. We as fans think the guy can't pass a physical and is still injured.

But today he is visiting the Redskins, how the hell is that possible?

Spencer and Hatcher I believe will be visiting the Redskins, Spencer is a FA and can do what he wants to. But if he is signed by the Skins, something will smell like a Rat.

Very Interesting! drunken

It's not Spencer's fault Jerry was dumb azz enough to give him $10 for doing nothing. That's on Jerry.

Hatcher had a pro bowl year and at 35, is trying to get his last contract. Again, like Spencer, I don't blame him.

We need to pass on both. We started this, now we need t finish it.

My point wasn't really about the money, its the fact he's been walking with a cane and a limp. Why would anybody want him if he's still injured?

I guess it really doesn't matter

Latest twitter has Hatcher on the way to visit the Titans

Hatcher signs 4 yr 27.5 mil with Skins
BluenSilver4evr

The stuff I'm reading has my head spinning compress

Hatcher said the fans miss him, sorry that's not what I've been reading. He'll be back in the 3-4 where he was just serviceable for us, nothing special.

Word is the Skins are trying to finalize a deal with Spencer today, HUH.

Somebody send out the crying towels for Ware, Spencer, and Hatcher, I guess because we cut them they are all crying about it today. I guess they have no knowledge of what a cap is, like 90% of the Cowboy fans.

Henry Melton is due to come to Dallas Monday. That is if he doesn't sign with Seattle, who he is visiting now?

I also read the Cowboys want to talk to Julius Pepper.

Both these guys are Marinelli guys who played for him in Chicago. With only $7 million available until June first, I don't see how it is possible to sign both, but the main target is Melton. He would give them the speed they need on the inside. He ran a 4.6/40 at his pro day.

I'm not sure its true but I heard Melton signed with Seattle today just rumor right now.

Fisher claims we are after J. Allen (who's better than melton IMO) and Peppers
Nightrider

I just read Melton is in Dallas Already, wonder how that knee is doing. If nobody else wanted him, he must want some big bucks.

We will not sign him, anyway I'm tired of signing injured guys hoping they get better.
BevoMav

Melton to thins point hasn't signed, but he is still in Seattle and that's not a good thing.

I like Jared Allen. They guy has a huge motor and would be a good addition.

Again, it's a money thing.

GB signs Peppers to a Ware type deal, at 30 mil

It's basically a one year deal and only $7.5 mil of the 30 is guaranteed. Peppers had 6 sacks last season for Chicago.

Funny though that Peppers with his 6 sacks, Ware with his 6 got the big bucks and the attention. Meanwhile Jason Hatcher, got little attention when he signed with Washington but he had 11 sacks and he's younger than both of those guys.

Cowboys should have signed Hatcher. IMO
Hawk

Didin't  Selvie have 7? I also read Peppers deal is a 3yr deal.

Here's the article:

And just like that, before you had that second cup of morning coffee, the Dallas Cowboys’ slim chances of landing free agent defensive end Julius Peppers has vanished.

Peppers signed a three-year contract early Saturday morning with the Green Bay Packers that’s valued up to $30 million (in other words, DeMarcus Ware-type money).

Peppers excelled playing under Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli during their time together with the Chicago Bears.

Peppers became a salary cap casualty when the Bears recently cut him.

The Cowboys just didn’t have the salary cap space to seriously be a player in the Peppers’ bidding.

Now they’ll continue to focus their attention pursuing Bears free agent defensive tackle Henry Melton, with slight interest in defensive end Jared Allen.
El Kabong

The Dallas Cowboys have been looking for defensive line help after a season plagued with injuries at the position. Combine that with the fact that the Cowboys have lost nearly every player on their defensive line to free agency this offseason, or in Jay Ratliff’s situation in the middle of last season.

They’ve been targeting Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton, who also missed a lot of time with an injury last season. That might work in the favor of the cap-strapped Cowboys who are looking for bargains on the free agency market. It also helps that Melton is a local Dallas product, born in Cedar Hill and attending Grapevine High School. That might give Melton a little extra incentive to sign a deal for a discounted rate.

Spencer visiting with Giants today, I hope they sign him, the guy needs to retire.

Melton on his way to STL without a Cowboy deal.

Henry Melton is dealing with a lawsuit after allegedly biting a man in Dallas, but he’s leaving town in search of a new team

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that defensive tackle Henry Melton will go from visiting the Cowboys (and being sued for allegedly taking a bite out of a Dallas bar owner) to visiting the Rams.

Melton is coming off of a torn ACL and would join Kendall Langford and Michael Brockers on the interior of a good Rams defensive line. He’s also visited the Vikings and Seahawks while also drawing some interest from the Bears and others.

Melton is expected to keep talking with other teams as his tour of NFL teams continues in St. Louis.

Just keep going Melton, I'd rather see Bass starting

I'd sure love to get this guy:

Agent’s message implies other teams are still in play for Allen

Jared Allen
AP

On Thursday afternoon, ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that the Seahawks and defensive end Jared Allen were “working on [the] final details” of a contract, and that “[b]arring unforeseen circumstances, he could sign today.”

Allen ultimately didn’t, which means the unforeseen circumstances won.  And now it’s unclear what Allen may do.

Allen’s agent told multiple reporters that Allen will “consider the Seahawks offer along with the others, and make a decision this weekend.”

It’s possible that Allen eventually will sign with the Seahawks, which perhaps would make Werder “right all along.”  It’s possible that he’ll sign with another team.  Reference to “the Seahawks offer along with the others” implies that more than one other offer has been made to Allen.  Because Allen has visited only with Seattle and Dallas, this could mean that at least one other team remains in the mix.

The decision, then, could be that one or more additional visits will occur.  Or it could be that he’ll sign with the Seahawks.  Or it could be that he’ll sign with the Cowboys.  Or it could be that he’ll do nothing until later in the offseason, taking a page from the Brett Favre show-up-in-August playbook.

Allen back to the Bears, I'm glad this happened, I think we have some guys who will step it up this year.

Anthony Spencer remains on the Cowboys radar.

But there’s no rush on the part of the Cowboys or any other club to sign him as the defensive end fights his way back from microfracture surgery on his knee.

“Structurally he is sound,’’ said Jordan Woy, Spencer’s representative. “Now he is building the strength back and conditioning to get ready for the season.

“He would be very limited in OTA’s but from what the doctors are telling us, he should be ready to go by pre-season and regular season.’’

Spencer underwent the surgery last fall and missed the final 13 games of the Cowboys season. Stephen Jones, the team’s chief operating officer, said he thinks the world of Spencer and hopes he’s healthy enough to again play for Dallas.

But Jones isn’t ready for the club to make that commitment.

“A work in progress,’’ Jones said of the situation. “Obviously, everyone is going to be evaluating him. He’s working his butt off to get better.

“We’ll just have to see. But he has more work to do than (Henry) Melton.’’

Melton signed with the Cowboys earlier this month. He is 27, coming off a torn ACL and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Spencer is 30, coming off microfracture surgery and could still be limited when camp starts in four months.
BevoMav

Unless it's a non guaranteed, vet minimum deal, I say no to Spencer. He's made enough for doing nothing in Dallas. Let him go waste someone else's time.
