Next Heisman winner

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Nebraska senior defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh picked up more hardware on Wednesday by winning the Lombardi Award as the nation's top interior lineman.

On Monday, Suh was awarded the 2009 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which is given annually to the best defensive player in college football. On Thursday night, Suh is a finalist for three awards that will be presented - the Outland Trophy, the Bednarik Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.

Suh, also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, heads into the bowl season leading the Cornhuskers in tackles for the second straight season. He has recorded 82 tackles this year, including 50 solo stops. Suh has recorded 12 sacks and 23 tackles for loss, both marks that rank among the top three in Nebraska single-season history. He also has an interception, a forced fumble and three blocked kicks.

He becomes the fifth Nebraska player to win the Lombardi Award, joining Rich Glover (1972), Dave Rimington (1982), Dean Steinkuhler (1983) and Grant Wistrom (1997).

Other finalists for the Lombardi Award included Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody, TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes and Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

Hawk I think and feel he will get it for the defense for the first time. Yet I think everyone knows that the cry babies in Texas have swayed the vote to the cheetah's in Austin. They seem to think it is owed to them from last year not being in the title game.

I hope and pray Alabama wipes that azz ...... GOOD DAY

There is still the guy from Stanford, he has a good shot at getting it also. I have heard even if Texas beats Alabama there could be a split vote for national champion. There are many don't believe Texas is the one. So we may have co-champions once again.
