Dez or MeMarco?

Come this off season the Cowboys are going to face some tough choices. The salary cap is estimated to be over the $130 plus million it was this season. Dallas is already over that now, and they have some significant free agents.

The two potentially most costly free agents are DeMarco Murry and
Dez Bryant. Both are deserving of a raise and if not here, then some other team will pay them what they are worth.

My question. If it came down to Dez or DeMarco, who do you keep? The rule is you can only keep one. Oh and why?

1st I would want to see your answer and reasons. The cap means absolutely zero at this time.

Three's a lot of football left, there will be injuries to be dealt with.

Let me tell you what the cap means, and I quote Goose Gosselin.

Quote:
But the problem on this team is defense. If the Cowboys again pour all their money into the offense ó as new contracts for Bryant, Murray and Free would indicate ó how is this defense ever going to get fixed?

The Cowboys started a defensive line against the Bears that included a third-round draft pick, two sixth-rounders and a seventh. And you wonder why thereís no pass rush?

We let D Ware go to Denver. Notice what he is doing there? We let our best Dlineman, Jason Hatcher, go to Washington. Running backs are easy to find, wide receivers like Dez, not so much.

If we sign both and Free, there goes the defense.

You want to know what I think? I pay Dez and let Murry go. Free, if he will take a cap friendly number, can stay. If not he is done as well.

Now if you asked me what the Cowboys will do? They will sign Dez and Murry. Next season we will have another DLine of cast offs and wanne be's.

You hatred for Dez is well known and irrational. Plus I know what you would do. Cut Murry and Dez, then sign a couple of fullbacks. cheers

I have always been  big fan of Murray's, constantly pointing out to the ignorant,  he beat Peterson's records at Oklahoma.

This guy is good very very good, he has not been used properly by the Cowboys, but that's nothing new.

I'm old school and played for Frank Kush, by the way as a WRer. JD hill was there and Cleveland's Steve Holden. If you even had the thought of acting like a jerk-off on the sideline you're done.

Now this clown is even yelling at the coaches not just the defense and offense. So according to some fan experts, we don't need anybody but Dez Bryant. He thinks the coaches suck, the game plan sucks, and feels he's a great WRer, who has a terrible time getting separation.

Beasley scores 2 TDs, and Bryant has a complete tantrum. I have said before I'd like to keep him, but for 100 mil. you have to be crazy. Back to cap hell all over again, and the real nut cases want Murray gone and Peterson signed.
BluenSilver4evr

I just want to see who's still standing at the end of the season. There is so much wrong with Bryant and I only see it getting worse. The Cowboys have this guy seeing a shrink and its not working.

You hear Murray has a history of injury, most of that is pure BS. Look up the list of Bryant injuries, its very long.

Simple at the moment, Murray is a class act who represents his whole team very well. Bryant is really headed down the T.O road moving from team to team. I'm not a mind reader, does Dez really want to win, or is he wanting that 100 mil more?

Crazy post of the week: Lmao

First you quote the Goose who is warning you about signing Bryant. RBs are not easy to find especially ones who might go for 2000 yards.

Also a guy who can catch and also run, oh yeah and block for his QB. You are hanging your hat on a guy who still runs bad routes. Has the media camera's pointing at him all the time.

Even Aikman said during the Eagles game "what the hell is Dez doing yelling at the D-line".

Hatcher had one good year, oops it was a contract year. I'm sorry Ware looked finished at the end of the season. We all love him, but he's still not the wow factor any longer. As they move into the playoffs and he faces better players, he'll disappear again.
El Kabong

Ah yes the media matra, RB's are a dime, a dozen. Sure the league is full of 1000yd rushers. lol

Actually it appears to me when I watch games that the league is full of 1000yd WRers. Andrew Luck just set a passing record yesterday. How many 100 mil. receivers does he have?

You cannot ruin your team in my opinion to keep either one of them. But I'd try and keep Murray and Dez can go scream on some other side line. I want to see just 1 other team offer him 100 mil.
BevoMav

If the Dez haters were paying any attention, instead of just hating on Dez, they would he was storming up and down the sideline yelling at the team to stay focused and not to let down.

Aikman on these Cowboys..I file his critique with all the other 90's players who hate this generation.

I like Beasley but he gets open because the defense is over playing Dez. Again I should not have to point this out to a fan.

I don't care if they don't resign Dez but they better get someone to replace him and that's going to be hard to do. If not impossible.

Oh and I quoted Goose to show a point about what the lack of cap space is doing to the defense. Try and keep up in the future.

I will leave now and the IQ level will drop considerably.

but...Tell em Arnold. "I'll be back."

Naw...the real deal is love is blind...Give Dez a wet one for me Bev love7love7 Don't see any Dez haters, its like when your kids act like spoiled brats. But I feel the IQ level rising when somebody says 100 mil. get real!

Not a hater here at all, but I do believe this will not be something easy to solve.

As for the Beas, dude runs good patterns out of the slot. I thought the #2 Williams was supposed to be the guy catching the ball when Dez is doubled.

Maybe you haven't been noticing, but a lot of teams have not doubled Dez.

I think I'll worry about this the final play of the Cowboys season.
BevoMav

Romo addressed the Williams thing after the Bears game.

The team has been in the two tight end with one WR set and as such Williams has not been seeing much playing time.

Romo said he is just going to the guy that's open and Beasley hasn't been targeted by the defense.

With Murry getting 41 touches in the game, that doesn't leave much for any other player.
BevoMav

This from Tony Romo on Dez.

Quote:
ďHeís not malicious,Ē Romo said Monday afternoon on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. ďHeís not sitting there trying to show that itís about him. Thereís no big deceitful kind of motive behind it. Heís actually a big team guy. When he does it, he gets animated. Itís mostly just passion coming out. It doesnít come across negative to the rest of the guys because youíre around him so much.

ďItís just comes across as heís emotional and heís excited and heís ready to go. Sometimes itís just happening, but it doesnít really affect you. Other times it helps guys get going a little bit. Itís important. You want it to be important to guys. One of Dezís great qualities is his ability to make it important to him, and thatís just rubbing off on other people. I donít think anyone on our team construes that as something thatís a negative. I donít think anyone look at it and says, ĎOh gosh, I canít believe this. This is ridiculous.í

ďHeís a passionate, emotional player and he gets that way during games. If you listen to the NFL Films on it, youíll understand real quick that heís yelling, but heís also saying, ĎWeíre the best! Letís go! Here we are! Me and you guys! Now and forever!í Itís comical that itís all negative and weird to other people.Ē

Well, I asked this before and did not get an answer...because I don't know if there is one...

WHY is this team so capped? Who the hell is making all the money? They got a bunch of no name defenders for God sakes....

The Patriots consistently win year after year, and they ALWAYS have cap space....and always sign good players in season....Whatever they lose in the off season, they gain back. Same with Denver.

Seems to be Jerry has NO idea how to handle the cap ( he never did ) over paying overrated bums and then strapping the team from getting better.

I gave you an answer even though I left out Tyron Smith's 96 mil. The team will not be cap strapped unless they make some bad decisions in handing out big contracts like they did in the past.

Damn Zigo you are dealing with the money of over 60 players, and you want an answer. Sorry I'm not doing that kind of work til the off season.

Do yourself a favor and look up the Cowboys cap, get a head start on what's going on.

Try and remember we are dealing with 25 FA's, people who just keep saying give Dez what he wants. Well sorry, do that and kiss a whole lot of guys goodbye. Just toss out what Garrett has been building.
BevoMav

Cowboys are over the projected salary cap number for next season. They can make moves like extending contracts but they are over and that is the definition of cap strapped.

and...the list of free agents after this season is long. Some guys are going bye bye and there is nothing we can do about it.
Hawk

You guys just won't let up, you want to force a conversation that doesn't even exist right now!

But lets at least start out with some factual numbers.

Cap Snapshot:
2014 Cap: 133M
Projected 2015 Cap: ~$137M+ (Could be MUCH higher, in the $145M range if the TV contracts kick in)

The Cowboys are scheduled to have a $4M carry over, so the Cowboys projected 2015 cap space is $141M.

The Cowboys projected cap charges are currently $120M. That means we are roughly $21M under the 2015 cap.
BevoMav

Such bogus numbers Hawk. You forgot the free agents.

Free agents in 2015

Cole Beasley
Dez Bryant
Brandon Carr
Bruce Carter
Justin Durant
Doug Free
Dwayne Harris
Nick Haden
Chris JOnes
Ron Leary
Rolando McClain
Sterling Moore
DeMarco Murry
Jeremy Parnell
Tyler Patmon
Micah Perrilan
George Selvie
Anthony Spencer
CJ Spillman

The reason they have so much room is they have a bunch of free agents.

The good news is the Eagles are in worse shape.

Yeah..hell yeah lets get into this stupid azz conversation that mean's nothing. It's you who keeps putting up the Cowboys cap as being cap strapped. BS- its you who needs to get rid of the Unresticted Fa's numbers. Those contracts don't exist at the end of the season.

Its you who want's to overload the cap with Dez Bryant...not me. I already have the numbers about Melton, Free, Tyron's contract will be negotiated, and that's in his current contract.

There are only a million things going on, and you just want to say we are cap strapped and thats pure BS. Why the hell won't you and Zigo give this a rest until the off season. Stephen Jones will make you look foolish when next season starts.

By the way...screw Dez...I'll throw the Money at Suh...he's the guy we need.

Oh yeah lets not forget Tony's money is in the bank...Guaranteed money and he'll renegotiate this year also to help the cap.
Nightrider

Dumb conversation, who really knows what will happen next year.

NFLPA expects 'substantial increase' to cap

Even though the NFL informed team executives at Wednesday's owners meeting that next year's salary cap will be between $138.6 and $141.8 million, the NFLPA believes a "substantial increase" will be added, Adam Schefter ofESPN reports.  This per a memo sent Thursday.

According to the memo, sent to the union's executive committee, player reps and contract advisors, the NFLPA believes the NFL's projected increase -- at least $5 million more than the previous season -- to be very premature.

"We have become increasingly concerned about these early projections and in the upcoming months the NFLPA will issue projections based upon our analysis of expected revenue," the memo stated. "We believe that this will aid players, agents and general managers to more effectively forecast the salary cap and aid players in contract negotiations. Additionally, we will provide you with information previously shared with players about the current spending levels of all teams and their compliance with the minimum cash spending requirements of the new CBA."

The memo also stated that last year's projections called for a flat cap that was ultimately raised by $10 million from the previous season

53 man roster and 23 free agents. Yea that's dumb to talk about. Fine I will post it on my web site.

My god what is wrong with you, its not a dumb conversation, but its 3 months to soon.

Is it okay if we still talk about this season?

I thought this was a Dez, Demarco thread, now its a cap thread. You just started it to fight with anybody who disagrees with you.
Nightrider

Could somebody explain to me how the Cap has something to do with this season. If we lose to the Eagles I can see us all starting to think about next year.
El Kabong

You guys have been very bad, you are never supposed to brings facts to an argument here.
