Cowboys Vs. Packers

                 VS.

I did so badly with my pick last week, so I went back to somebody who knows.

So as I see it Cowboys will win this game even if Rogers plays. They will keep their play off hopes alive this week.
zigomanis18

The Pack finally won last week without Rodgers.

The Cowboys have been a very different team at home than they are on the road...their defense plays respectably at home ( With the exception of the Denver game )  while getting totally hammered on the road.

However,  With Rodgers, the Pack are very different. Granted, if he plays, he will probably be a bit rustly early, which means we MUST take advantage of that and get an early lead. Green Bay's defense is not very good either.

However, if Rodgers plays, He will eventually solve the crap that is the Cowboys defense so....

Without Rodgers... Cowboys win   34-24
With Rodgers...  Packers win  38-34
Hawk

I know its early in the week, but I just don't see Rogers playing. They would be risking the future of the packers on one game.

Our defense may not get him often but they will get him a few times.
El Kabong

Notable:
"Dez Bryant (6-2, 222), the 24th pick in 2010, hasn't had a 100-yard game since Week 7 and disappeared against the Bears. He's an explosive power player with mid-4.5 speed a la Michael Irvin. He's inconsistent in everything that he does, including catching. The mental side of the game holds Bryant back.

Rookie Gavin Escobar (6-6, 249), a second-round pick, should be playing more than finesse TE James Hanna (6-4, 250). Escobar flashes big-play ability.

When Dallas loses, it's because they just can't keep pace with the score. Can Matt Flynn generate 30, 35 points? If he can, Green Bay's got a shot."
RDE DeMarcus Ware (6-4, 258), a seven-time Pro Bowl pick, looks almost disinterested and is having his worst season. He's lost some burst, explosiveness and power at the point.

At 31, he seems to have hit the wall

SS Barry Church (6-1˝, 218) is an instinctive, hard-hitting, active former free agent who does his best work near the line. His 4.68 speed limits the coverage.

First-year coordinator Rich Bisaccia has top-flight units. K Dan Bailey might be the Cowboys' No. 1 player overall. He has hit 19 of 21 this season and 90% in three seasons. P Chris Jones, a first-year regular, is 15th in net average (39.8). Dwayne Harris, bothered by a hamstring injury, could be the NFL's best dual returner. The coverage teams, led by Harris and LB Kyle Bosworth, are first-class.

All I know is Cowboys had 10 days to get ready for the Bears. Something really has to change this week. Or we can get ready to start doing draft articles again.

B&B

Gloom and despair lie heavy across the Dallas Cowboys fanbase. The Windy City wipeout crushed spirits. After that debacle against the Chicago Bears, it is hard to imagine that the Cowboys have any chance at all of winning the last three games and making it back to post-season play.

But there are not one, but several trends this season that indicate that the Cowboys not only could do just that, but should do it if things continue the way they have gone during this strange season. Here are the three remaining games, and the indicators that point to success for Dallas.

Green Bay Packers. Everyone is watching to see if Aaron Rodgers will return for this game. If he doesn't, this should be a much easier task for the Cowboys - although they certainly haven't done very well against backup quarterbacks (see Josh McCown). The Packers have to be cautious, because there is a risk if Rodgers should re-injure his collarbone that he would never be the same. That is why Tony Romo never returned to the field when he had a similar injury in 2010. And even if Rodgers does play, he may not be at full speed. But that is beyond Dallas' control.

Two things argue in Dallas' favor, no matter how things go at quarterback for Green Bay. First, the Cowboys have already bounced back from an even worse defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Saints. This team has been resilient so far.

But more importantly, this is a home game. If you haven't noticed, Dallas is 5-1 at home, and only 2-5 on the road. And the only loss was the shootout against the Denver Broncos, where the Cowboys offense played one of the best games ever. In the other games, Dallas has just found ways to win. For whatever reason, they seem to be a different team in AT&T Stadium. Not that much better (the defense has still struggled against good quarterbacks), but more determined. Admittedly, the teams coming into Jerryworld have not been doing all that well in the win department, but the Packers are sitting at .500. If things continue the way they have been going, Dallas wins this one.

At Washington Redskins. The Cowboys have only managed to win two games on the road. Against the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. Who just happen to be NFC East rivals, like the 'Skins. For whatever reason, Dallas has dominated in division games this season. Add in that Washington, currently at 3-10, is one of the truly abysmal teams this year and has a head coach that is publicly mooning his owner in an apparent attempt to get fired, and this also falls into the category of Dallas beating the bad teams (however narrowly). So again, two trends for this season say Dallas takes this game (which, if they handle the Packers, would mean they finish over .500).

Philadelphia Eagles. There is no doubt that the Eagles are playing good football right now, although they have also had some very good luck. They missed Rodgers when they played the Packers, and the blizzard game against the Detroit Lions largely nullified Calvin Johnson. But this game is back home for Dallas, and it is a division rival. Again, two trends say that Dallas should finally break the last game problems it has had the previous two years.
MrMiyamoto

It's been maddening thinking about how and why this defense is as bad as it is.  I think the single biggest damper on our progress is the complete disappearance of DWare.  The guy simply doesn't have it this year.  I'd love to think he can find it again, but we heard all week last week that his "strength" was back, and therefore HE was back.  Didn't happen.  Regardless of who's under center for the Pack, we HAVE to generate pressure.  Period.  I see us winning this one, but barely.  I'm hoping some progress is made on defense to perhaps spur on some momentum for the final two games.
Hawk

Welcome to the Realm MrM... cheers

Really can this defense even help us unless they can get some turnovers? Without some help from them somehow its going to just be the Romo show.

The media is just waiting for Romo to do something wrong so they can jump all over him. You are also right, Ware is doing nothing to help out. But one of the members here pointed out (last year) he always seems to disappear in big games.
MrMiyamoto

Thanks, Hawk.  We gotta drum up some activity in this place.  Send out some invites to the tolerable folks at the Ranch!

But yeah, I agree, turnovers are paramount.  Lately, we haven't been getting them the way we were in the beginning of the year.  Hard to believe this defense was one of the leading sack teams in the league after six or seven weeks :O
Hawk

Thxs MrM,guys kind of come and go, we have lost a few member's lately for various personal reasons.

Some guys just like to stop by and read. But yeah, sorry about the system sign in problems. But it keeps the trolls from getting in here when my computer is off.

This site got just like the Ranch it was out of control, so I shut it down for a year, and then just the faithful came back, when I reopened.
El Kabong

Hello MrM, glad to have a new face on board.

We are a small group of die hard Cowboy fans. This is just a good ol boys club lol.

As you tour around to other sites, they have all been taken over by haters. They have forgotten the art of conversation. Here we respect each other, but hell no we don't always agree.

From what I have found from talking with other member's here, they don't live in Texas, so they hesitate to tell their friends about this site.

I hope the Cowboys will make a statement against GB, but I've been hoping for that statement all season long.

Howdy MrM

I too am a long time poster at another site: I tried to get others to join here, some didn't want to start out at 0 for their post count. Others didn't like the fact the place wasn't traditional blue and white.

But you won't find 3 pages on a subject where people are just arguing and name calling here either. We discuss our opinions, and talk Dallas Cowboys, plain and simple. I think this place is a hoot, and different is always good in my book.

Now back to the topic, can we beat Green Bay, I'd love to say yes. One thing in our favor, we have been good at home. We'll have to see if Kiffin and Marinelli can get something done this week with our defense.

GO COWBOYS  occasion5
zigomanis18

Well,

Many of us were happy that Rex Ryan was  fired...Are we happy now?

I think that the Cowboys have put FAR too much pressure on WARE over the years. Without him, the Cowboys never really had a pass rush. He is 31 and has been full throttle his whole career. I give him a huge alibi here. Time for someone else to help out. I know we have injuries, but so do all other teams. Look at how many injuries the Patriots have endured this year..and they are what...10-3?  No excuses.

On another note to which I agree 100% , defenses suck in general during this "ARENA football" era of ****. I laugh when people talk about how QB's are breaking records. Yeah, when you throw the f*ckin ball 45-55 times a game compared to 25-30 in other eras, of course you are going to break records. This last week the NFL set a record for total TD's and points in one week. John Gruden on Monday night stated "Not so sure that is a good thing". He went on to mention that there are WAY too many scores at the end of games, bad special teams play. He said it's no necessarily great offense but bad defense that is causing this. I agree 150 %. THe league sucks *** nowadays. Nothing but passing endlessly. Like to see Brady, Manning, Brees play in the 70's and 80s and likewise like to see Staubach, Tarkenton, White and especially Marino play in today's league with the pass oriented rules they have now.

I think you meant Rob Ryan, and I never like to see anybody get fired especially under his circumstances. I'm sure Rex will get fired this year however lol.

I can't even imagine what Hayes and Staubach could have done in this era. Yet Hayes still owns 22 Cowboy records....Dez who...lmao

I want to say welcome, I stop by here 3-4 times a day, but I'm a pretty busy guy. I don't have the time to read page after page of people arguing' that's what we had a few years ago.

But by reading the posts here, I think so far we are all on the same page. Its a do or die, it will be what it will be. But I do think we are long over due to catch a few breaks. JMO
Nightrider

Hey MrM

Glad to see some new blood, we have lost some of the guys they have just up and disappeared
MrMiyamoto

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.  Not sure what your thoughts are about ChoppinBroccoli, but he's from the Ranch and my best friend in real life.  I'll extend an offer to him if you're open to it.

As for this weekend's game, I GUESS the news about Rogers being unlikely to play is good news, but I somehow still see Flynn as potentially burning us.  The idea of us blitzing more (as per JJ) excites me, if only because SOMEONE needs to hit the QB.  If it means giving up some big plays, so be it, because we're doing that already.

What I do like in general is the matchup of our O vs their D when we are at home.  I want Dez involved.  Where in the heck has HE been lately?
Hawk

Tell ChoppinBroccoli come on over

As for the blitzing, I guess if it works JJ can add DC to his resume lol.

I wanted to let you know, that your statement here was not over looked. I know you added one of the names for me. But in todays game, I think White would have been Brady's equal. But I don't want to go off topic, just letting you know I'm paying attention geek
Desperado

I'm thinking a healthy Flynn, is better than a guy who would be told go in but don't get hurt.
But now they can add this to the excuses why we won.
BluenSilver4evr

Wow everybody's talking like the Eagles will win out, I don't think that is going to happen.

But I do think Cowboys have to go 2-1 to get in the Playoffs. This week would be a step in the right direction.

AP might give the Eagles more than they can handle, just saying!

I think the Cowboys better have the mind set they need to win all 3 to get in. This team IMO really needs to get in, it will set the stage for good things to come. Another failure, could put the program back again, JJ will go panic mode.

Rogers has been declared officially out, not really sure this is a good thing?

HA HA!  Not really Hawk. White was a great passer. I never doubted that. I stand by all those names. In today's league all those guys would light it up. Marino especially, whom I think is STILL the best pure passer in NFL history would be the first $6,000 passer. I am sure of it. He was putting up numbers like QB's do now in an era when it was unheard of.

Some info...No Packer team has beaten the Cowboys in Texas since 1989.

For those who want to know they have played 9 games in Texas...lost them all.

I understand this is why Rogers wanted to play today, he wanted to end that streak.

Remember when Romo broke our losing streak at Lambeau?
LoneStar

Lets not kid ourselves here, Lacy can run the rock. Nelson is a tall receiver who already has over a thousand yrds.

Flynn was supposed to be the starter in Seattle, and got beat out by option QB Wilson. This is going to be a tough game. Those 3 guys I mentioned will kill our defense plain and simple.

ITS TIME TA MURDER DA BUMS

MrMiyamoto

I guess the gravity of our situation just now hit me:  Bruce Carter and Sean Lee are both out today.

Am I crazy to worry that the Packers may pick up 350 yards rushing today?

I have big hopes for Holloman, though.  I want to see some plays made by him like in the preseason.

I read an article yesterday, and Holloman wasn't even mentioned as an option, have you seen anything on this?

Good new Eagles are getting their *** kicked right now, and the Giants really suck lmao. I'm stuck watching that game.

I read that Holloman will be getting significant snaps.
MrMiyamoto

Also, not so fast on the Eagles.  They are now in a one possession game, just like that.  Crazy.
Hawk

OH Crap...I guess I should have just shut up lol.

Yeah I just read this

Cowboys – Out: LB Bruce Carter (hamstring), WR Dwayne Harris (Hamstring), LB Sean Lee (neck). Questionable:  CB Morris Claiborne (hamstring). Probable:  LB Justin Durant (hamstring), DT Jason Hatcher (neck), LB DeVonte Holloman (neck), LB Orie Lemon (not injury related).
MrMiyamoto

WHAT?!  Holloman was just tweeting about playing the other day?  These injuries this year are preposterous!

Hawk

It says he is probable, so he will probably play today, But they also said Monty made a lot of changes this week...so we will see a lot of players we haven't seen before.

Well let's hope for some different RESULTS too, shall we?  :)

Don't know yet, if I can't get it on the TV, I'll have to watch it on the computer

Sounds like the eagle have lost...and you'll be late to Bdubs lol
BluenSilver4evr

Ha Ha I said the Eagles coundn't win out and the Cowboys would at least have to go 2-1 to win it. But I would love to see the Boys go 3-0 to finish the season.

Then everybody can keep their jobs
Hawk

You did say that, now if only pigs could fly lol
Nightrider

Well our defense already making GB look like SB winners, going to the bar seeya tomorrow.
MrMiyamoto

Great results so far.  Hope Red Jesus doesn't abandon the run, though.  Defense looks active, although Flynn is horribly inaccurate, which helps.  Romo has got to make that throw to Dez in the end zone.  Always seems to overthrow him.

Wake me up I must be dreaming

Cowboys hit a new low today. Such an embarrassing defense and team. Lousy play calling.

Garrett should be fired immediately !
Nightrider

Garretts offense scored 36, Kiffins defense gave up 37
Desperado

The whole damn team fell apart, mistakes to numerous to even begin to count.

I still think something is wrong with Romo, and they are hiding it.
zigomanis18

Baloney!

Garrett sucks! I don't care how many points they scored. He is the
one who called stupid pass plays when they were running the ball with ease. Troy Aikman called him out more than once..and Garrett made an *** of himself calling out Romo. He is a CRAP coach and needs to be gone immediately!
