Still no money yet for FA signings.

Oh the cuts are coming, but at least we won't get a fine, we beat the deadline.

Word is 7 teams are interested in Spencer, just how stupid are they lol. What ever they are going to do with Ware it better be quick.

Adios to Hatcher and probably Orton next week.

I think they are only like 100.000 under at the moment, yes there are going to be guys cut, that's a done deal.
BevoMav

Cowboys are $1.2 million under the cap, and that does not include the $$$ they will create when Ware and Austin are cut on June 1st.

I think there is a chance they resign Spencer, or that is what I am reading.

I think most of the cuts have been made other than the ones above that can't be done before June 1st or the money counts this year.

I looked every place I could think and couldn't find our current cap space. But I heard they are talking with Hatcher, not Spencer.  (Landry Hat)

You still save more money by getting the 2 players to take pay cuts to stay in Dallas.
BevoMav

Here is a link..Seems they have $2 million in space..

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports....m/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs

but..here is the problem and it's the same on they have every year. They can't create any more cap space, by releasing Ware or Austin, until after June first. If they do the money is on this years cap.

So all they have is $2 million and by the time June first rolls around, it will be too late for any free agent worth having.

The good news? Not much of a free agent market..

Bite the bullet Tues, cut Ware and sign at least one of these guys. If he takes the pay cut still sign one of these guys.
Hawk

I saw where the Fan reported Spencer is in talks with the Cowboys. They need to throw this guy on the open market.

I don't think he can even pass a physical, heard he is still walking with a cane.
Desperado

Even thinking about Spencer has to be insane at this time. Cowboys look to be creating another Ratliff situation to me.

Sure we got under the cap 2 million is chump change. We still have guys to cut, so we'll have enough to pay draftees.

You lose Hatch, Spencer and Ware that's 3 of 4 starters. I know we have some young back-ups but nobody on the D put much pressure on other teams QBs.

Yes I've heard 100 times cut Austin and solve our money problems. That in itself is a can of worms, I've heard Cowboys save as little 400k and as much as 5mil. Personally I believe from everything I've read the number works out the something over 2 million. More chump change.

I also find it interesting how everybody still assumes Austin is a June1st cut. Nothing has ever come from Coaches or Execs. about a June1st cut.

I think there will be some interesting things happen us fans never suspected
BevoMav

Spencer was injured so I give him a pass. Ratliff wasn't hurt, he just wanted out of Dallas, and refused to play until he was released.

But the whole time Ratliff said he was hurt, even his agent hinted at a cover up of the injuries. The fact Jones hasn't taken him to court shows me something might be there.

Berny took a pay cut, somehow I thought that was old news. But its just now being reported.

Maybe I read it sometime during the late night.....I must be losing it?
BevoMav

Well I just read some news that may be relevant. Turns out the Cowboys can release Ware now and get the cap savings of $7.4 million right away.

Word is they want to use that money to sign Hatcher and Spencer. Spencer is still on crutches and I can't believe they want to go that direction and get nothing for another year.

Also the DMN is reporting they are leaning toward cutting Austin and even though they can't use the money until after June 1st, they can use the money to sign their draft picks.

I predict if Spencer is signed, he will never play, but if he is cut, he will make a miraculous recover and play this next season somewhere else..See J Ratliff..

Here went some cap money:

Dallas Cowboys punter Chris Jones is signing his exclusive rights tender of $645,000 today, according to a source.

Jones, who just returned from his honeymoon, averaged 45 yards per punt (39.1 yards net) in his first full season with the Cowboys in 2013. Jones, 24, had 30 of his 77 punts sail inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

Jones finished his third season with the Cowboys in 2013 as the player who replaced former punter Mat McBriar.

There are still decisions to be made, Durant, Orton and others, not to mention that talk about Claiborn. Lots of things to process here, anybody can speculate but its only guesses.

Looks to me like Nick Eatman has lost it

He claims Austin will be cut by Wed, and Hatcher let go soon afterwards. Then Ware will be allowed to have his agent test the market.

Nothing mentioned about Spencer.

I think Nick needs to put the bottle down, or JJ has to. Cutting Austin now nets them a whopping 400k over the next to yrs.

Maybe JJ needs that Austin cash now for some kind of big splash deal.

I ran around looking at other Forums to see what they thought about him. The usual suspects think him signing his tender was a dumb move by the Cowboys.

What the hell the guy can be cut in camp and cost the Cowboys 150,000 that's it. I'm sure he'll get competition in camp, But was he really that bad?

ranked number 9 in punts within the 20
ranked number 19 in punt yardage - was 3 yards away from number 1
ranked number 2 in Fair catches
ranks middle of the pack for return yardage

Don't think they can touch the Austin money until after June 1st. I can see no reason to be cutting him now. All that dead money if and when he's cut is already in his bank account. They are only going to save his salary now.

He'll do better with another team, not since Roy Williams have I seen fans turn on a guy like this. If we don't cut Ware, he'll be the next.

I think you are right, but if he takes a pay  cut then that's instant cap space.
BevoMav

Austin is toast and the money they save from his contract will be used to sign their draft class.

Look around the league and you see cap casualties on every team. Teams structure these contracts and everyone knows one day the player will have to be cut.

We will know about Ware, Spencer and Hatcher before 3pm et today.

I think Ware and Hatcher are gone, or will be allowed to pursue other offers.

Austins money right now is needed for FA signing if he'll take a pay cut. His money could be used for giving to others on the team if a June1st cut.

His money is not really needed to sign draftees. The 51 highest salaries on the team count against the cap, none of the rest. As you sign guys to the team others are cut or move back out of the 51 range. You are designated how much you have to pay for the first 4 players selected.

There will be plenty of guys cut after the draft, I don't see why you don't get this. 7-8 guys in 7-8 guys out, the money almost takes care of itself.

Yes you will need a few mil for the top 4....but you don't need Austins money for the draftees, or the UDFA's.
Hawk

I have to add this in, Ware had demanded the Cowboys give him an answer today.

Point one....real bad move.

Point two, the CBA allows teams to go over the cap if they have announced their June1st cuts. Oh OH for Ware Cowboys get a whole lot more money by doing that, and Ware will be way down the list for other teams by then.

But one way or the other we'll really seewho's toast today drunken

The Cowboys win real big in 2016 and 2017 by cutting him today, the question, do they want to wait?
Hawk

2 more guys cut...Released: DT Corey Irvin
DE Everette Brown
