This game worries me. Cowboys have zilch to play for and it is a perfect game to have a let down.

Scares me!

Dallas head coach Jason Garrett is pictured on the sidelines in the second quarter during the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Dallas Cowboys NFL football game on Thursday, November 27, 2014.

It’s unlikely that the Cowboys, win or lose, will be able to escape the No. 3 seed in the NFC. They face an opponent in the regular season finale that has broken Tony Romo’s back — literally — the last two times these teams have met.

So why play Romo?

“There’s a playoff scenario with us winning the game that will give us an opportunity to get a first-round bye so we’re going to take advantage of what we can take advantage of,’’ head coach Jason Garrett said. “There are 16 opportunities to play and guys who are healthy are going to play in this game and practice this week and play in the game. Ballgames are important to us.’’

And what about the argument that this game is as close to meaningless as a team can get?

“There are no meaningless games,’’ Garrett said.

The only way Garrett can make the game meaningful is if someone gets hurt.

Those playoff scenarios are involve a tie and Rams winning at Seattle. Right.

Bevo this was discussed in zigo's post. The 9ers have to win and the Rams have to win.

Here’s how the NFC playoff picture looks with one week to go:

1. Seattle Seahawks (11-4) The Seahawks will be the No. 1 seed if they beat the Rams on Sunday, unless the Lions and Packers tie and the Cowboys win.

2. Detroit Lions (11-4) The Lions currently own the tiebreaker over the Packers, but they’ll have to win or tie at Green Bay on Sunday to win the NFC North. If the Packers win, the Lions will be a wild card.

3. Dallas Cowboys (11-4) The Cowboys have won the NFC East. They can get a first-round bye if both the Seahawks and Cardinals lose on Sunday.

4. Carolina Panthers (6-8-1) The Panthers will be the 4 seed if they win or tie in Week 17. If the Panthers lose to the Falcons, the Falcons will be the 4 seed.

5. Green Bay Packers (11-4) The Packers would be a wild card if the playoffs started today, but they’re favored to win the NFC North and get a first-round bye with a win over the Lions on Sunday.

6. Arizona Cardinals (11-4) The Cardinals can still win the NFC West if they beat the 49ers on Sunday and the Seahawks lose to the Rams. Otherwise, the Cardinals will be a wild card.

Forget all the if's and buts. Rams are not beating the Seabags and GB/DET are not playing to a tie.

but I will give you one interesting stat.

Since expansion 5 teams have finished a season undefeated on the road. All of them went to the Super Bowl.

Dallas can join them Sunday with a win over Washington.

DeMarco Murray good to go for Sunday

Posted by Josh Alper on December 26, 2014, 2:54 PM EST
Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray was out of commission because of an illness on Christmas, but he was back to work on Boxing Day.

Murray participated in practice on Friday and drew a probable tag on the injury report, leaving him in line to play against Washington in the regular season finale. The Cowboys have locked up the NFC East title and will likely wind up as the third seed, but they can grab a first-round bye with the right combination of results.

Owner Jerry Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan that the possibility was enough for the Cowboys to go all out with Murray and everyone else healthy enough to play.

“It would be a catastrophe if we walked up there and, for whatever the reason, of our own volition, of our own decision making, pulled back a little bit and then had a chance to get that first-round bye,” Jones said, via the team’s website.

Assuming Jason Garrett sticks to the plan laid out by the guy signing the checks, Murray should end Sunday as the Cowboys’ new leader in single-season rushing yards. He’s 29 yards behind Emmitt Smith, who ran for 1,773 yards in 1995.

Right tackle Doug Free is doubtful to play with the ankle injury that kept him out last week. Jermey Parnell will likely start again.

The last team to do it was the Colts, who won the SB. They actually won with a 17th ranked defense.

I heard it on ESPN and they said three of the teams were 49er teams..you say the Colts were one. The other had to be the Pats who went 16-0 and lost to the Giants in the SB.

Hope Dallas makes it six.

We finish on a strong note and this place turns into a ghost town.

Nothing to say really, Cowboys got their revenge and kept the momentum going.

It turned out as advertised, their game meant nothing in the end. I'm happy we won, thought we would. Glad Murray got the record, but now I'm just thinking about the Detroit game.
