DeMarco Murray: Iím not worried about my future

Posted by Josh Alper on January 12, 2015, 3:29 PM EST

When time ran out on the Cowboys season on Sunday, the clock started on the window the Cowboys have to re-sign running back DeMarco Murray before he hits the open market.

Murray is set to become a free agent and said Monday that he didnít know how things would play out with the Cowboys. He declined to answer a question about how much he wanted to return and said that his mind hadnít moved on from the loss to the Packers just yet.

ďIím not worried about my future. I just lost a big game, the biggest game of my life. Just not worried about it right now,Ē Murray said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. ď

Murray closed his year with 25 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown, the 13th time in 18 games that Murray finished with at least 100 rushing yards. The touchdown was his 15th, but Murrayís day also included a lost fumble for the sixth time since September.

The positives outweighed the negatives, although forecasting what all of it means for Murrayís future in Dallas isnít easy. Murray led the league in rushing, played all 16 games and has a few years to go before he hits 30. He was also used heavily, ran behind a strong offensive line and plays a position that has generally not proven worth big, long-term outlays of cash.

What that adds up to will be one of the big storylines heading into free agency, although Murray probably doesnít need to worry too much about interest in his services.

I am concerned with Murry's fumbles. In the teams 5 losses, he fumbled in three of them. All three of these fumbles went a long way to the loss.

If he doesn't fumble against Washington, the team has a bye and we play GB at home. If he doesn't fumble yesterday it is most likely they are on their way to Seattle.

Running backs are everywhere. One that fumbles don't last long.

Cowboys offer to Murray, is just saying goodbye. 4Yrs 16 Mil is really an insult.

Jerry Jones in an interview with the Dallas Morning News (WED Jan 13th) said the team would be a player in free agency.

He listed the biggest need as pass rushers. In particular Def Ends.

oh..and nearly everyone in the media says Dallas is ready to move on without Murray. The word is the Barber contract has soured them on giving long extensions to running backs. Used to be RBs were good to age 30. More and more we are seeing them decline before then.

We COULD have both Dez and Demarco if Romo restructured his salary.  Brady, one of the best to ever play the game, just did it for the SECOND time in his career. Ultimate team player. Romo needs to follow and be a team player. Rothlisberger did a few years ago as well. Step Up Tony!

Jones was asked this exact question about retaining both and he said it is possible but might hurt the teams ability on other moves.

This team can't continue to spend on offense and ignore the defense.

I thought it was a well known fact that Tyron and Romo, had this built into their contracts.

I was watching Mike and Mike and their consensus was that Murray is the guy the Cowboys need to keep right now. But I see the Cowboys signed Williams locking him up on the team.

Dez is one of JJ's pets, but I think JG does't have those same feelings.
